PasteProof privacy policy

PasteProof processes information locally in the user's browser for the single purpose of comparing a value the user chooses to capture with a destination value the user chooses to verify.

Information handled

After an explicit user action, PasteProof may temporarily handle selected website text or the value of a focused form field, its field label and the hostname of the active page. Depending on what the user chooses, this may include website content, personally identifiable information such as an email address or telephone number, financial information such as an invoice amount, or text from a personal communication.

PasteProof also stores local preferences: capture-expiry duration, whether to clear after an exact match and the user's blocked-host list.

How information is used

Source and destination values are used only to produce the comparison result requested by the user. PasteProof does not use the information for advertising, profiling, analytics, creditworthiness, lending or any unrelated purpose.

Storage and retention

Network access, sharing and sale

PasteProof makes no external network requests. Captured values, destination values, page hostnames, preferences and comparison results are not transmitted to the developer or to third parties. No user data is sold or shared.

Sensitive information

PasteProof is not intended for authentication or payment credentials. It attempts to block password fields, one-time codes, PINs, payment-card numbers, private keys and common access-token formats. Users should not use PasteProof to compare authentication credentials or payment-card information.

Permissions

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

PasteProof's use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

User control

Users can clear the active capture from the extension popup or keyboard shortcut, block PasteProof on chosen websites, change the retention period, or remove all extension data by uninstalling PasteProof.

Changes and support

This policy will be updated before any material change to PasteProof's data practices. For help, visit the PasteProof support page.
